Learn the way to change the installment of your Xfinity Connect (Comcast) email accounts on Microsoft Outlook from POP to IMAP.

Note: The directions contained in this article only affect users who have
Already configured their own Xfinity email account via POP. In addition, this guide presumes that if putting up your email through POP, you chose to not retain emails in the server after downloading them to the email client.
  • Essential Requisite
  • Select your Comcast email accounts, and then click Change...
  • Confirm that the account type is POP, then click More Settings.
  • Change Account display in Microsoft
  • Outlook.
  • Click the Advanced tab, and assess the Leave a copy of messages in your host check box. Then, click on Okay.
  • Microsoft Outlook Internet E-Mail Settings display, Advanced tab.
  • Switching from

POP to IMAP

  • Select File, and then Add Accounts.
  • From the Add Account window, input your Comcast email and password. Then, click Next.
  • Insert Account screen in Microsoft Outlook.
  • By default, the account will be configured via IMAP, so only click Finish.
  • Microsoft Outlook Insert Account screen supports account setup.
  • Moving Emails from the POP to IMAP Profile
  • If the choice to delete emails from the host was chosen during POP account settings, emails would happen to be deleted from the mail server since they were downloaded to the email client so that the newly configured IMAP accounts

will not contain these emails.

  • To prevent losing these emails during the switch from POP to IMAP, you must select the mails inside the various folders (inbox, subfolders, trash or delivered items) on your own POP account, and then drag and drop them in the respective folder within your newly configured IMAP account. To be safer, you could also move and save these emails in an external folder.
  • Following your existing emails are transferred from the POP accounts for they are corresponding newly configured IMAP folders (and after ensuring that no emails are lost ), you can delete the current POP-
  • configured profile and its various folders in the email client. Then, keep on with Xfinity Connect through your new IMAP profile.
